FAQ

What is the PoE2 Duelist release date?
Jonathan Rogers said the Duelist will be available in the 1.0 release on 11 December 2026. The stream closed with the same 1.0 launch date for Path of Exile 2’s full release.
Will Path of Exile 2 be free when the Duelist launches?
Site context confirmed by the editor: PoE2 becomes free to play at 1.0. That aligns with the Duelist arriving on the 1.0 date in the video, but the word “free” itself is not spoken in the Duelist segment—it is background launch policy.
Which platforms get the Duelist at 1.0?
Background context for this wiki: PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. GGG did not re-read the platform list during the Duelist portion of this particular video.
What are 0.5.5 and Forbidden Rites relative to the Duelist video?
At the start, Rogers said the Forbidden Rites event (based on Ritual League content) releases next week along with the 0.5.5 update—after the Duelist reveal in the same broadcast. The end of the stream repeated that 0.5.5 and the event start at the end of next week.
When will Duelist ascendancies be revealed?
Mark Roberts said ascendancies were not shown and pointed viewers to Exilecon later in the year. Jonathan Rogers later invited players to Exilecon on 7 November New Zealand time. Ascendancy names and kits are not confirmed in this footage.
Can I play the Duelist before 11 December 2026?
GGG did not announce early access to the Duelist class in this video. The pre-1.0 hook was the 0.5.5 patch and Forbidden Rites event, not the new class.

When does the PoE2 Duelist release?

Jonathan Rogers opens the stream by naming the class and tying it to Path of Exile 2 version 1.0 on 11 December 2026. He repeats that players who cannot wait until 1.0 will get other content first: after the Duelist segment, GGG planned the 0.5.5 update and Forbidden Rites event for the week after the video (described as “next week” at 0:21 and again near 34:55). The Duelist itself is not part of that early-week patch in the narration—only the December 1.0 gate.

Is Path of Exile 2 free when the Duelist arrives?

What the video states: Rogers links the Duelist to 1.0 on 11 December 2026 and later calls that date the full release of Path of Exile 2. He does not say “free to play” in the Duelist chapters.

Background this wiki treats as confirmed launch context (not re-proven in every sentence of the stream): PoE2 becomes free to play at 1.0, so the Duelist’s public launch coincides with the F2P transition on the same date. Early Access purchasers before 1.0 are outside the scope of this page; GGG did not discuss refund or entitlement rules in the Duelist demo.

What platforms are supported at 1.0?

The deep dive does not enumerate platforms while discussing the Duelist. For planning purposes this site documents PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S as the 1.0 targets Grinding Gear Games has communicated elsewhere. If platform scope changes before December, this page should be updated from a primary GGG source.

What is the 0.5.5 patch and Forbidden Rites event?

In the same broadcast, after the Duelist and build sections, GGG pivots to Forbidden Rites—a campaign event based on Ritual League, starting with patch 0.5.5. Rogers lists Ritual encounters in acts, epic boss ritual clusters with unique rewards, multiplayer tribute changes, endgame Sacred Bloom and Wildwood access, a Trial of Chaos overhaul, Abyss atlas content, and more. He also notes a large balance pass originally slated for 0.5.5 was moved to 1.0 because of 1.0 workload.

That event is a separate pre-1.0 reason to log in; it does not unlock the Duelist class early. For class mechanics once live, start with Duelist class guide and Duelist skills list.

When will Duelist ascendancies be shown?

Mark Roberts ends the build portion by noting no ascendancy classes were shown and that the preview builds were not ascended. Teaser art appears, with a promise to learn more when ascendancies are shown at Exilecon later in the year. Jonathan Rogers later gives a concrete date invitation: Exilecon on 7 November, New Zealand time (34:43).

Until then, Duelist ascendancy status stays a confirmed-vs-unknown ledger—no ascendancy names or passives from this video should be treated as final.

How does this relate to the in-game Grand Arena content?

Rogers uses the Grand Arena ruins as the Duelist tutorial space and mentions Thrax as the arena champion at the centre. That is locational preview, not a release-date reward. Boss details belong on Thrax boss page, not on the calendar section above.
